When it comes to hiring a photographer, there is a lot to consider. You want to make sure just like with any other vendor that you have all of your bases covered and didn’t miss anything hidden. So, to make life easier, I compiled a list of questions to ask your photographer before you hire them. As a wedding photographer, these are the most important things I ensure to let my clients know about as they are all important things to consider.
Do you backup my photos?
This one might just be the most important question to ask when it comes to hiring a photographer. When it comes to your photos- especially if they are wedding photos- one mistake can be made on the photographers end and they are gone forever. For this reason, ensuring the photographer backs up your photos is essential.
Do you offer the option of a second shooter?
Second shooters are a great investment to make when hiring a wedding photographer. It allows a second photographer to be there to capture extra moments and make sure that nothing is missed on your wedding day or elopement.
Do you charge for travel costs?
A hidden fee that can be easy to miss! Your photographer should let you know about this one if there is traveling involved on their part but just in case they don’t clarify it, be sure to ask! Usually travel costs consist of plane, lodging, meals and transport.
What’s your turn around time?
Turn around time is another important aspect to consider when it comes to hiring a photographer. Most photographers have a turn around time of a few weeks to a month when it comes to weddings.
How many fully edited photos will I receive?
Make sure the amount of photos they will be delivering lines up with how many you’d like! This is important to discuss to establish clear expectations.
