Back in 2021, I got to capture in-home family photos for the Gaby family. We also got to celebrate their son Elias’s first birthday! They wanted some candid photos of the boys playing together and just being kids. This was perfect because it allowed the boys to get comfortable in front of the camera before taking family photos. We started outside in their yard and let Elias and his brother play with their toys. They also got to blow some bubbles and just have fun! Once they were feeling more comfortable in front of the camera we got some photos of the whole family together. Later on, we moved inside and let them play with some more toys. After that we let Elias dig into his birthday cake. His smile after realizing he was allowed to make a mess and eat frosting with his hands is the cutest thing! Cake smashes are always so fun!

I love how the Gaby’s chose to have an in-home session. Being at home helped the kids feel more comfortable and it makes for a more intimate setting. If you’re thinking about getting some updated family photos, I say in-home is the way to go! Plus you don’t have to worry about rushing your whole family out of the house! No more shoes will be left at home and if one of the kids has an accident there’s plenty of clothes to change into. In-home sessions are so special, when the kids grow up they’ll be able to look back at the photos and have memories from their childhood home. I always feel so honored to be welcomed into someone’s home and capture these precious moments for them.
