What To Wear For Your Engagement Photos

Engagements

Having engagement photos taken is one of the most exciting parts of being recently engaged. It is the perfect way to capture this fleeting season and all of the excitement and joy that surrounds it. With that being said, when it comes to picking out your outfits and what to wear to your engagement session, it can get pretty stressful.

These are, after all, once in a lifetime photos that you will cherish forever so there’s no doubt you will want them to come out perfect. Outfits can really dictate a lot with the photos. They set the tone and often times can determine how comfortable you are. So, let’s talk about it. Here’s some tips for when it comes to picking outfits for your engagement session.

01. Consider The Location

First things first, think about the location and try to think of what will best compliment that location. For example, if you are going to be somewhere surrounded by nature, stay away from green so you don’t clash. If you’re going to be at the beach, maybe consider sticking with neutrals to compliment your surroundings.

02. Consider The Season

The time of year will be another big determining factor when it comes to choosing your outfits. If it’s fall time wear warm fall tones to match the season. If it’s spring do pastels and bright (ish) colors. Another thing to consider as well is the weather. If it’s winter time and you live somewhere where it snows, be sure to dress warmly!

03. Be Sure To Compliment Your Partner

While it’s best not to completely match, you do want to make sure you’re complimenting your partner’s outfit and vice versa. This goes with all avenues. Colors, level of dress, and style. If they are wearing a bright color, maybe wear something neutral to compliment it. If they are in a dress and heels, maybe stay away from that graphic tee. And if they are going for an urban look, it’s time to break out the beanie.

04. Comfort Is Key

Ever heard that saying “if you feel good you look good”? Well, it’s 100% true! Or, at least, in my opinion. If you feel uncomfortable with what you’re wearing, it will likely translate into the photos. Make sure you feel confident in what you’re wearing, feel warm, and not killing your feet with those heels.

05. Choose A Color Palette

The biggest tip I have in picking out outfits for engagement photos is establishing a color palette to stick to. This helps to make sure you are complimenting outfits and that they will mesh well with the location. It narrows down your decision-making a lot and makes the process much smoother.
